Great trips are not built on algorithms. They come from knowing someone who knows where to go

How it started
(and why it still matters)Stylebible launched in 2005, back when Dragons’ Den was new, Facebook had just launched, and no one knew what an influencer was.
- The idea came after a trip to New York with a boyfriend who had all the budget but none of the know-how when it came to where to stay. He booked the most expensive hotel he could find. The Plaza. It was amazing, but it felt like a waiting room for heaven. Not the vibe for a 22- and 27-year-old. That trip made something clear. There were better places, often for less, if you knew where to look. But most people didn't.
- I became obsessed with finding them. Stylebible was born out of that obsession. A curated guide for people who didn't want to waste time or money on the obvious choice.
- The week we launched, I was invited onto a new BBC show called Dragons' Den. I had no idea what it was. I thought it would be like Working Lunch or Troubleshooter, the great business shows. The studio lights were so hot I had to duck mid-sentence to avoid burning my scalp. On the second take, I sweated so hard I thought I'd wet myself on national television. I stalled. The edit wasn't kind. My dad's text said it all: "You're better than that."
- What Makes Stylebible Different We don't use algorithms. We don't rely on press releases. Every listing is selected by a real person who has been there.
- Our curators are the secret to everything. Each one brings their own lens, whether it's a love of natural wine, boutique hotels, or transformative treatments. If you like what one person recommends, you can follow their trail. The site becomes more personal the more you use it.
- Over the years, Stylebible found its rhythm. Journalists joined. Memberships grew. Parts of what we created have been replicated, but we've always stayed true to our founding principle: we never recommend anything we haven't experienced ourselves.
- When the pandemic hit, we took Stylebible offline. The hospitality industry was on its knees, and we needed time to rebuild. Now we're back, open to all while we develop new features. Slimmer. Smarter. Still entirely curated.
- The website serves as your reference point. Our Substack shares in-depth reviews and features. Our socials highlight the best of our content with video. However you want to use us, we're here.
- We all get freebies. It's part of promoting places. But if it's not good enough, it doesn't get in. Every review is honest. Every listing is earned.
- Stylebible has always been a labour of love. It saves you time, steers you clear of the overpriced and underwhelming, and gets you through the door at the places that make a trip unforgettable.
- That's what our team does for you.
