How do we make money?
Without going too ’internet economics’, the simple answer is subscriptions and advertising.
Sound obvious? Well, maybe, but we can’t function as a genuine consumer product review service without setting it down in print that we DON'T TAKE PAYMENT FOR REVIEWS.
If we did, that would make our site content advertorial rather than editorial, and it would be unreasonable and downright dishonest for us to charge you a subscription for reading other people's adverts dressed up as original and independent copy.
Companies cannot under any circumstance pay to be featured in our editorial. When we give something a good review, it’s because we have made a value judgement on whether or not or readership will like or not. If we don’t offer an independent product, we lose the trust of our readership and therefore go out of business.
That’s not to say you'll never see branded stuff on Stylebible. People will want to target our readership with products that appeal to its demographic and interests, and we will charge them for that access. However, in these cases, it will be made plainly obvious what is advert and what is editorial.
What’s more, we’re not list brokers either. Your email and contact details will stay firmly with Stylebible unless you personally want it give it out. It won't be sold off to other companies intent on hounding you with junk mail. We work hard to attract and keep our readers.
So now you know. If you have any further questions about Stylebible’s operations, drop us a line and we’ll do our best to answer them.
Now, back to the site.
