Walking into Notting Hill’s Strip, you^d think you were in a lingerie store rather than a waxing salon. Then it dawns on you: it’s a lovely combination of both (see fashion review as well), which makes sense. Both beautify your nether regions.

Downstairs in the salon the boudoir boutique design from upstairs continues with pink-padded doors leading to four treatment rooms. Inside you’ll find bright, vibrant patterned wallpaper and an LCD TV to keep you distracted while they go about their work.

Strip uses organic wax in yummy flavours like chocolate-hazelnut (one of the most popular) and lavender for more sensitive skin, all imported from Australia. I opted for the chocolate-hazelnut wax, which smells and even feels a bit like nutella being spread on your skin. My technician asked if I’d been before and when I said I hadn’t she explained that it was different from the usual method as the wax was left to set before being peeled off whole, sans strip! This was the first time I’d tried this type of wax or waxing method and I have to admit it really doesn’t hurt as much as the linen strip method.

On inspection, the hair removed has the white follicle at the base, meaning the hair has been pulled out entirely, making it grow back slowly and finer. I also tried the lavender wax on my arms, and it is equally less painful and even left a lingering scent on my arms. One of the nicest touches is that the treatment rooms are stocked with wipes for before or after the treatment, a great after thought, especially if you’ve been at work or shopping on a hot day.

Strip Waxing Bar and Lingerie Boutique offers, without a doubt, one of London’s best waxes, evident from its extensive list of clients. I would definitely submit to a Brazilian at the trusted hands of my Aussie technician on a regular basis. It smells great, feels better than a normal wax and the boutique/salon is a visual treat in itself.
